BLACK HILLS SERIES - Part 4 - Beyond the Press Release: What Real Unity Looks Like

Beyond the Press Release: What Real Unity Actually Looks Like

— And Where It Actually Comes From

by Bunny Sings Wolf | IndigenousHealing.io

This summer, while I was writing the Black Hills series, something happened that I want to address honestly before this arc closes.

All nine South Dakota tribes passed resolutions supporting legislation to return federal Black Hills lands to the Oceti Sakowin. It was called — and in many ways genuinely is — a historic show of unity. Elders and spiritual leaders from across the nations stood alongside it. The words used were real: our church, our collective healing, the fight is not only material but spiritual.

I read every word of the coverage. I felt something move in my chest when I did.
And then I sat with it a while longer. And I noticed something else moving alongside that first feeling — something quieter, and perhaps more honest.
I have felt this before.

The Pattern That Keeps Repeating

If you have followed Indigenous land and sovereignty issues for any length of time, you know this pattern. An announcement. A show of unity. A historic milestone. Real hope, genuinely felt, by real people who have been carrying real grief for a very long time.

And then — more often than not — the slow erosion. The legislative process that moves at its own pace, responsive to forces that have nothing to do with justice or healing. The internal divisions that surface when the cameras move on. The disappointment that settles in quietly, the way it always has, the way it has been settling in for generations.

I am not saying this outcome is inevitable. I genuinely do not know how this particular effort will unfold — and neither does anyone else at this early stage.

What I am saying is that pinning the healing of He Sapa — the healing of any sacred thing — to a congressional vote is a little like waiting for a weather forecast before deciding whether to feel joy. The forecast might be right. It might not. Either way, the sun was always going to do what the sun does.

What "Sea Change" Actually Means

The phrase "sea change" comes from Shakespeare — a transformation so complete, so fundamental, that what emerges from it is barely recognizable as the same thing that went in. In The Tempest, it describes what happens to a drowned man at the bottom of the ocean: his bones become coral, his eyes become pearls. Nothing of him remains unchanged.

A sea change is not a headline. It is not a resolution passed in a council meeting, however historic. It is a transformation happening at a depth where most headlines cannot see — slow, largely invisible, and by the time anyone notices it has happened, already irreversible.

This is what Crazy Horse actually described. Not a legal victory. Not a legislative milestone. A time — a generation — when something in human consciousness itself would shift. When the young ones of every color would feel, not just believe, their belonging to something larger than the identities and borders that had divided them. When the circle would close not because a court ordered it but because enough hearts had remembered something true.

You cannot legislate that. You cannot press-release it into existence. You can only live it — one step, one conversation, one healed heart at a time — until enough of those small, invisible transformations accumulate into something the world can finally see.

That is the sea change. And it is already underway.

The Unity That Doesn't Need Anyone's Permission

Here is what I know about the kind of unity Crazy Horse was pointing toward — because I have been watching it form, one quiet person at a time, for years now.

It does not announce itself. It does not require a majority vote, a federal ruling, or a historic press release to proceed. It is not waiting on Congress.

It looks like a woman in Germany who found IndigenousHealing.io at midnight when nothing else was helping, and who has walked Nature's 4 Steps every day since — not because anyone told her she could, but because something in her recognized something true.

It looks like a Circle Call where people from six different countries, speaking four different languages, found themselves crying at the same moment because they all felt, at once, something they had never been able to name before: that they were not alone, and had never been alone, and that the separation they had been carrying was real but not the deepest truth.

It looks like a young person — not Lakota, not from anywhere near these hills — who watched a video about Mato Tipila and felt, in their body, a recognition they could not explain. A pull toward something that already knew their name.

None of these moments will appear in any news story. None of them will be counted as evidence in any legal proceeding. None of them required any institution's permission.

And every single one of them is the prophecy completing itself — exactly as Crazy Horse described, in the only language that can actually carry it: the language of the heart, felt first, understood later.

What Nature's 4 Steps Teach About Unity

Balance — the first step — teaches that honest assessment is not cynicism. Naming the pattern of announcement and disappointment, as I have named it here, is not a betrayal of hope. It is the ground of hope — the refusal to place hope somewhere fragile when it belongs somewhere that cannot be taken away.

Harmony — the second step — teaches that unity is not uniformity. The nine tribes that passed those resolutions do not all agree on everything, and they never have. Neither does our circle here.

Harmony is not the absence of difference or tension — it is the discovery that difference and tension, held in right relationship, are what makes a circle strong rather than brittle.

Abundance — the third step — teaches that real unity is not a zero-sum game. The healing of He Sapa does not require the displacement or diminishment of anyone else. The circle that forms at Mato Tipila in 2028 does not ask anyone to give up their identity, their history, or their home. It only asks them to remember something that was never truly forgotten: that we are all, in the most literal sense available to us, made of the same material, entangled in the same field, indigenous to the same one life.

Peace — the fourth step — teaches that the outcome of any particular political effort is not the measure of whether the healing is real. He Sapa was sacred before the 1868 treaty. It was sacred after the treaty was broken. It was sacred through the 1980 settlement. It is sacred now, through this new resolution. It will be sacred regardless of what Congress does or does not do in the years ahead.
The sacredness of a place is not contingent on whether its legal status reflects that sacredness. It simply is. It has always been. It will always be.

That IS the HEART of everything that is.

This Is Not Passivity

I want to be careful that nothing I have said here is heard as a counsel toward disengagement. I am not saying the legal and legislative work doesn't matter — it does. I am not saying that the historic unity of people who represent as nine tribes is not meaningful — it is, deeply.

I am saying that the unity the press release describes is a reflection of something that started long before the press release was written. And the healing that the people of He Sapa needs — the healing that the whole world needs — is being carried not primarily by governments or courts or nonprofit organizations, but by the people who have quietly, persistently, without announcement or applause, been walking their own small sea change into being.

You are one of those people. If you are still reading this, you have been walking something much stronger into being — in your own body, your own relationships, your own daily choices — that is part of the same pattern Crazy Horse saw. The same gathering. The same remembering. ONE and the same circle.

The prophecy is not waiting on Congress.

It is waiting on you — and you are already here. Dont stop now. The circle path is good only if it is WALKED, four steps at a time, ONE by ONE of us towards the ONEness Crazy Horse envisioned for this time!

A Note on How This Series Ends

This is the fourth and final post in the Black Hills series — and the last in a summer arc that began in May with a question about exhaustion, moved through sage and stone and quantum physics and star nations, climbed the sacred mountain and circled it three times, walked the hills, told their history, sat with their grief and their grace, and arrived here: at unity. At ONEness that must be remembered and revealed in each healing heart.

Not the institutional kind. The kind that forms quietly, in the hearts of people willing to walk four steps into their own healing, and call that — truthfully — a contribution to the healing of the world.

Because it is.

Come walk with us. 🌿

Number 9 Meaning in Numerology: The Hermit, The Lantern, The End and the Beginning

By Blair Andrews · Published April 17, 2025 · Updated May 10, 2026 online here:
There's a weight to the number 9 that you can almost feel. Hold it in your mind for a moment. This is the last single digit.
Everything the soul has experienced from 1 through 8 is contained here - the aspiration, the duality, the creation, the struggle, the freedom, the responsibility, the perfection, the karma. All of it. Every lesson. Every scar. Every breakthrough.
Multiply any number by 9 and the digits of the result always reduce back to 9. (9 x 7 = 63; 6+3 = 9. 9 x 438 = 3,942; 3+9+4+2 = 18; 1+8 = 9.) The 9 absorbs everything and remains itself. It contains all nine digits within its nature. It is, mathematically, the number that nothing can dilute.
"The One got the world," the old masters wrote. "The Nine gets the universe."

The Completion of the Cycle

Life revolves around a nine-year cycle. This isn't metaphor. It's the fundamental unit of time in numerology. What you plant in Year 1, you harvest in Year 9. What you refuse to learn in one cycle, you face again in the next.
The 9 is the harvest. The gathering-in. The moment when the seed planted eight years ago finally reveals what it became. For some, that's abundance beyond imagining. For others, those who didn't tend the garden, it's a field of weeds.
Renaissance geometers confirmed this from a completely different angle. When they measured the full symbol that encodes all number and all planetary meaning, they found that its central axis breaks into exactly nine equal parts, no more, no less.
Nine is where the complete structure ends. The tenth part is the return to the beginning at a higher level. After 9, the cycle does not continue forward. It circles back to 1, carrying everything it gathered on the way.
But there's a tension in 9 that rarely gets mentioned. Agrippa noted it clearly: 9 "sometimes signifies imperfectness and incompleteness, because it does not attain to the perfection of ten, but is less by one." And that gap is real.
It is simultaneously the number of completion and a step short of the universal. The Hermit stands at the top of the mountain, yes. But the mountain is not the universe. He is as close as a single digit can get - and he knows how much distance remains.
